The secret of the brazen serpent

 

Number 21:4-9

And they marched from mount Hor, by the way that leadeth to the Red Sea, to compass the land of Edom. And the people began to beweary of their journey and labour:

And speaking against God end Moses, theysaid: Why didst thoubring us out ofEgypt, to die in the wilderness? There is no bread, nor have we any waters: our soul now loatheth this very light food.

Wherefore the Lord sent among the people fiery serpents, which bit them and killed many of them.

Upon which they came to Moses, and said: We have sinned, because we have spoken against the Lord and thee: pray that he may take away these serpents from us. And Moses prayed for the people.

And the Lord said to him: Make brazen serpent, and set it up for a sign: whosoever being struck shall look on it, shall live.

Moses therefore made a brazen serpent, and set it up for a sign: which when they that were bitten looked upon, they were healed.

Why did God send fiery serpents?

 

Genesis 3:15

I will put enmities between thee and the woman, and thy seed and her seed: she shall crush thy head, and thou shalt lie in wait for her heel.

"Israelite has seen the miracles with the Pharaohs in the land of Egypt, open the Red Sea and won many battles. The fiery serpents can not be won with weapon and self wills. It is impossible to defeat devil that is the father of sin."

 

Psalms 51:5

For I know my iniquity, and my sin is always before me.

 

“The only way to defeat the fiery serpent is to look at Jesus and abideth in the doctrine of Jesus Christ”

 

John 3:14

And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the desert, so must the Son of man be lifted up: That whosoever believeth in him, may not perish; but may have life everlasting.

“Today this is the secret of the brazen serpent for those that are away from the path of life and wondering in the desert.

 

For Christ therefore we are ambassadors, God as it were exhorting by us. For Christ, we beseech you, be reconciled to God.”

Isaiah 53:5

But he was wounded for our iniquities, he was bruised for our sins: the chastisement of our peace was upon him, and by his bruises we are healed.

 

II Corinthians 5:18-20

But all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Christ; and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation.

For God indeed was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, not mputing to them their sins; and he hath placed in us the word of reconciliation.

For Christ therefore we are ambassadors, God as it wereexhorting by us. For Christ, we beseech you, be reconciled to God.

 

Isaiah 48:8

Thou hast neither heard, norknown, neither was thy ear opened of old. For I know that transgressing thou wilt transgress, and I have called thee a transgressor from the womb.

 

Romans 5:12-14

And not only so; but also we glory in God, through our Lord JesusChrist, by whom we have now received reconciliation.

Wherefore as by one man sin entered into this world, and by sin death; and so death passed upon all men, in whom all have sinned.

For until the law sin was in the world; but sin was not imputed, when the law was not.

And my people, upon whom my name is called, being converted, shall make supplication to me, and seek out my face, and do penance for their most wicked ways: then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sine and will heal their land.

For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh; God sending his own Son, in the likeness of sinful flesh and of sin, hath condemnedsin in the flesh;

That the justification of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not according to the flesh, but according to the spirit.

 

Number 6:24-27

The Lord bless thee, and keep thee.

The Lord shew his face to thee, and havemercy on thee.

The Lord turn his countenance to thee, and give thee peace.

And they shall invoke my name upon the children of Israel, and I will bless them.
